Car Thefts
Research by transportation and traffic experts has shown
hat most car thefts are preventable if drivers constantly take
a few precautions. (In 2019 around 14,000 cars were stolen.
Cost 279 million euros) In addition, there are the numbers
of thefts of parts of the cars or valuables.
Don’t make it easy for the car thieves and follow these steps:
1. Always park your car in well-lit areas, if possible in a secured
parking space or garage. Also take care, if you are traveling
without a car, that a vehicle left in the same place for a long time is
a magnet for thieves. It is best to rent a secured parking space
during this time.
2. Always close the doors and windows. Lock the doors and never
leave the keys in or on the car.
Never leave valuables in the car, especially not visible. If you have to do
it (e.g. work material) then only in the trunk, which of course has to be
locked.
3. Have an anti-theft device installed. These deviices are not as expensive
as you think. Find out more from your trusted workshop.
4. If your vehicle has been stolen, don’t panic. Contact the police to
file a complaint. Don’t forget to inform your insurance company about
the next steps to take. If you unexpectedly find your vehicle again,
inform the police and your insurance company immediately.
