Refuelled Diesel instead of Petrol?
A wrong hand and it is happen.You confused the
fuel pumpand fill the tank with the wrong fuel.
Pay attention, this is what you have to do, if you don’t want to destroy your engine.
If you didn’t start the engine, it’s most times enough
to let drain the tank. But it is very important, that the
engine was not running.
Engine damage, when starting the engine !
Please don’t start the engine, even not for a short time,
to get away from the fuelstation for example.
This also applies with small quantities of diesel.
Did you start the engine, already? You should
immediately stop it and call your workshop, so that
they are picking up the car.
Now you are facing the danger of engine damage.
The garage has to drain and clean the tank. The
injection nozzle and other parts of like filter, pump and
even the engine, maybe. An important information for
the mechanic is, whether the engine ran for a while and
if you really drove the car and the car stopped, while you
have driven.
Took Petrol instead of Diesel?
With this confusion the engine would rather go on strike.
The reason is the higher ignition point of Diesel. Therefore
the engine would stop, because of the lack of explosions
in the cylinders. The spark plugs are not able to light the
cylinders with diesel.
Severe damages are quite rare with this constellation,
but not impossible. Contact the vehicle manufacturer
or your workshop for getting futher advice in order to be
sure.
