What happens if you drink during the probationary period?
If you acquire a driving license for the first time, it will be
issued on a probationary basis. It is 2 years. The ban on alcohol
during the probationary period remains in effect until the age of  21st .

UNDER 0.5 PER MILLE:
If you are stopped by the police and a BAC (blood alcohol concentration)
of less than 0.5 per mille is found, there is a fine of 250 € and a month’s driving ban.
You’d also get a point in the VZR (central traffic register).

If one stands out during  the probationary period and has committed
a serious violation, it is listed in Catalog A (like driving over red light).

Less serious violations are listed in Catalog B (like driving a car with worn tires).
In the case of one violation according to Catalog A or two violations
according to Catalog B, follow-up a
training seminar in any case. If the ban on alcohol is disregarded during the
probationary period, which is an offense according to Catalog A, a special
seminar for those who are suspicious of alcohol is due. In addition, the
probationary period is extended by a further two years
and is then for four years.

OVER 0.5 PER MILLE:
With this BAC it is a bit more expensive,
since you then have a fine of 500€  to pay and are banned from driving for two months.
You also get two points in the VZR (central traffic register). If you are noticed a second
time during the probationary period, you will be warned and informed about the possibility
of taking part in a traffic psychology consultation, which you should attend.
If you are noticed a third time during the probationary period, whether with
or without alcohol, your driver’s license will be deprived.
