The profile of a new tire of a car is between 8-9 millimeters.

Actually unbelievable that the legal minimum tread depth for summer and winter tires

is only 1.6 millimeters.

For safety reasons, however, it should be at 3-4 millimeters

Renewed already.

Tires have a small footprint anyway. Therefore they must be in good

state. Only then is a short braking distance guaranteed.

The ADAC refers to more than 1700 accident victims every year because of these kind of tires.

It is so easy to pay attention to these three points:

1.  The right tread depth. (3-4 millimeters)

2.  Use tires that are not too old (tires are old after 5 years and are practically expired after 8 years. There is no sell-by date, but the material gets old and has no longer grip.

3.  The correct tire pressure

With the latter, you only need to drive up to the gas station to check the pressure for free.

You can find the right filling pressure either

on the tank cap or on the driver’s door on a sticker.
