Is it Allowed to Carry Babies in the Front of a Car?

Facts

The law states, that your child must sit in a child seat
until it is 12 years old or 150 cm tall, depending on
which comes first.That means, that your child is also
allowed to sit in the front, if you have an appropiate seat
for your kid.
Front facing seats are according to ADAC test results,
safe and can be used, too.

Best conditions:
The  front passenger seat is pushed into the most back
position, to keep the child out of the airbag deployment area.

Caution:
But it is certainly not advisable to use baby-carriers, which
are rear facing in the front, when the airbag is not
deactivated. Otherwise, in case of an accident the risk
of injuries is too high.

Vintage vehicle without seatbelts:
If you want to take children with you in a vehicle,

which doesn`t has seatbelts at all, like in
vintage vehicles,  it is only possible if the child is
minimum 3 years old.
However only in the back.

Exception:

Unless the vintage car has seat belts only in the front.
In this case you should carry the child in the front with
the right car seat.

Children under the age of 3 are not allowed in
vehicles without any seatbelts.
