Do cyclists have to use cycle lanes?

Problems on the road often arise between motorists and cyclists.
The cause is usually the use of the road by cyclists, despite the cycle path.

Is that actually allowed or not?
Yes and no, the following is enshrined in the law:
Cyclists must always ride on the right-hand side of the road. If so-called protection lanes
(with a dashed line) or cycle lanes (with a solid line) are marked on the road, these should be used, but do not have to be.

Cycle paths separated from the carriageway must be used if they are marked

but they are taboo for other road users. Should a common
cycle paths and footpaths are laid out, cyclists must pay particular attention to pedestrian traffic.Take Care:

Cyclists are allowed to overtake on the right side of the road in order to approach the traffic lights.

However, other vehicles, like cars are not required

to leave space there.

Caution ! If there is no space, the cyclists are not allowed to approach between vehicles

to the traffic light.

By the way:

Cyclists are only allowed to ride next to each other on the road if they are not obstructing anyone
and the road is clear.  Otherwise, they have to drive one after the other.
